Privacy Policy
BeamShare transfers files directly between your devices. This policy is short because there is genuinely nothing to disclose: we collect nothing.
What we collect
Nothing. BeamShare has no accounts, no analytics, no crash reporting, no advertising, and no servers. We never see your files, your device names, or that you used the app at all.
Where your files go
Files travel directly from one device to the other over your local Wi-Fi network or a device-to-device hotspot, encrypted in transit (TLS). They are never uploaded to the internet and never pass through us or any third party.
What stays on your device
- Files you receive, saved to your device's media library (Android) or the app's Received folder in the Files app (iOS) — under your control, deletable at any time.
- Your chosen device name and a random device identifier, stored locally so nearby devices can recognize yours. The identifier is meaningless outside your own network and is never transmitted beyond it.
- Resume bookkeeping for interrupted transfers, stored locally and cleaned up when the transfer completes.
Permissions
- Local network / Nearby devices — to find your other device and to host a hotspot. Used for nothing else.
- Photos / media access — so you can pick files to send and save received media. BeamShare reads only what you select.
- Camera — only while scanning a pairing QR code shown on your other device. No images are captured or stored.
- Notifications (Android) — the transfer-progress notification.
Data deletion
All app data lives on your devices. Deleting the app deletes everything. There is nothing stored on our side to request or erase.
Children
BeamShare collects no data from anyone, including children.
Changes
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted at this URL with a new effective date.
